STATEMENT

Inspired by the raw physical essence of the weather, seasonal changes and light patterns, Annie seeks to capture both the mood and movement of the fleeting and often magical moments that are continuously being re-created by nature. Through the use of specific color combinations, thick and thin layering, and definitive brushstrokes, she strives to bring forward these exquisite and often sublime events that we experience everyday.

Annie begins each piece with a loose line drawing that comes intuitively - a fluid mark that ultimately serves to lay the foundation and infuse the work with a structural sense of space and design. This foundation will guide her through the fruition of the piece, as she seeks to retain the mystery and reveal the compositional elements - trusting that the painting or drawing will reveal itself willingly.

Annie was born in Southern California and grew up in Northern Arizona. She has since lived in San Francisco, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Seattle and is currently completing her M.F.A. in Fine Art Painting at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
